Photo (tech) Tip Tuesday! #11
The back of some guy's head rather than the band on stage.
A dark and blurry photograph of a football player on the field.
A "Selfie" that is too bright and ghost-looking.
RED EYE.
These are just some of the examples of the blessing/curse of a pocket camera's flash.
So it's great that you have an incredible camera in your pocket but when it comes to Auto Mode and the built in flash you may often roll your eyes at the less-than-awesome results.
Pocket cameras are programmed to be smart and figure out what you are doing but sometimes what you want may not be the same as what the camera THINKS you want. If that flash is on and you are trying to photograph something beyond 10 feet away, the camera will underexpose the photograph because it assumes that the flash is taking care of it, which of course, isn't true. This phenomenon leaves you with a dark and blurry photograph that will wind up getting deleted.
When you are photographing something further than your camera's flash can reach, its usually better to leave the flash off. Most cameras have a "program mode" which gives you access to options like flash/no flash while remaining mostly automatic.
iPhone cameras are super simple and do a nice job even without flash but if you have a fancier pocket sized camera then you have access to TONS of features most people will never even know they have. Its really easy to just look up "how to" videos on Youtube and master your camera in no time!

Kelly & Jack in the Spring
We had the perfect evening to photograph Kelly and Jack on the beach at Lake Calhoun. With all the rainy weather lately it was so nice to have a warm and sunny night.
We cant wait to photograph their wedding next month!

Hey everyone! We have been busy these last couple of weeks photographing a lot! We have some really cool blog entries coming up soon. Here's last week's and this week's photo tips.
We get asked about what clothes to wear to an engagement session all the time. Really its all up to you! Wearing something that you normally would wear is important because you will feel like yourself. When you are being photographed as a couple its important to keep your outfits matching. It can be fun to go with a wardrobe theme depending on where your session will be photographed!
We always make sure to capture all the aspects of your wedding however, if a special performer has a connection to you its helpful to know so that we make sure to capture extra memorable photos of them.
Thanks for reading! We can't wait to share more photos with you.

Todays photo tip can help you bring tech into your wedding. A new trend amongst new brides and grooms is creating hashtags for different wedding events!
Of course you have awesome wedding photographers capturing the professional stuff but its really fun to be able to look back and see your guest's photos and well wishes on Twitter and Instagram.

Photo Tip Tuesday
Hey everyone! Spring is ALMOST here in Minnesota. Lets all hope this is the LAST time we have to shovel off our cars this year!
Anyway, we are psyched to introduce our very own PHOTO TIP TUESDAYS.
Whats the first rule of having your photos taken? Have fun with it of course!
But whats the second rule? The third rule? While we don't like to generalize photo sessions with a bunch of pre meditated rules we love to make people feel more comfortable when we’re photographing them so we're demystifying the whole thing.
So every Tuesday we'll be sharing, right here on Facebook, great tips for when you’re in front of the camera.
We'll be focusing on mainly engagement and wedding photo tips but we’re always open for questions, suggestions, and discussions.
Lets do this!

Cozy Up and Grab a Blanket
Kelly and Jack are just the sweetest people. In Minnesota its really a brave thing to pose for engagement photos in the Winter and these two really pulled it off! Bethany and I had an idea to photograph them at Centennial Lakes in Edina because it always looks so pretty at sunset. It turned out that it was the same spot they got engaged!
Jack and Kelly were sooo easy to photograph because they were so comfortable and in love with each other. It was impossible for them to not act natural! We took a nice (although chilly) walk around the lake with these two lovebirds photographing as we went. We found a sweet bonfire and warmed up a bit with some hot chocolate.
These two are such a fun couple and we cant wait to photograph their wedding this summer!

Tree
Hey all! We are getting super excited for the holiday season. Bethany and I have been busy decking the halls and drinking spiced apple cider! It will be so nice having most of our Minnesota family here to spend Christmas with and all the nieces and nephews to play in the snow with.
Speaking of Minnesota Christmases, we are totally up for some winter couples sessions! The point of couples photography is to show the love and fun you have together and a huge part of living in Minnesota is cold weather, right? Why not combine em. We can bundle up, build a snowman, sled down a hill, and have a chilly little session. Its a great idea for a couples gift to each other. Engaged? married? A new photo of yourselves is a great gift for parents and grandparents! Got kids? Bring em.
Here are some of our photos from the last few days.
